Sparkling water

How is it nearly the end of July already?! I feel like it was just yesterday we kicked off the official start of summer by jumping into the the sparkling blue water of Okanagan Lake.

We've been spending a fair amount of time lakeside this summer, not only to escape the heat, but also because the water is mesmerizingly gorgeous.

One of the great things about where we live is our proximity to numerous lakes. And while some of the main beaches can get quite busy, if you explore a little further it's possible to find a patch of lake all to yourself.

We had to climb down a few rocks to get to this spot near the north end of the lake, but it was definitely worth it! There was even a large flat rock, perfect for laying out a couple of towels to sunbathe. We spent the better part of a day here in and out of the water, just soaking it all in.

A word to the wise: As we were heading back out to the parking area, we noticed a large warning sign we both swear was not there when we arrived. It read something along the lines of "Warning- swimmer's itch may be present. Take necessary precautions." Oops! (In case you don't know, swimmer's itch is caused by parasites burrowing under your skin.) Luckily neither of us were affected by it, but I'd definitely look into their recommended precautions the next time around.

How have you been spending your summer so far?
