There are two types of attractions we can't pass up: castles and anything to do with WWI or WWII.
While planning our road trip to Brittany, France, where we would spend the first of our three week vacation, we came across the city of Fougères. When we found out this pretty little city located in the Ile-et-Villaine department was home to the largest fortified castle in Europe, we knew we had to make it one of our pit stops en route to our rental home in Dinard.
We only had enough time for a quick walkabout to take in the views of the impressive château fort and for an éclair au cassis (which was AMAZING!). We've added Fougères to our "must visit again" list so we can really take our time and get a chance to tour the castle.
